Did You Know?

The Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club, founded back in February 1907, is the oldest established surf life saving club in the world!

Neighbouring Suburbs

Bondi Beach’s closest neighbours include the sunny suburbs of Bronte, North Bondi, Bondi and Bondi Junction.

What You’ll Love

Residents of Bondi Beach love the outdoors and with such a beautiful beach literally at their doorsteps, it’s not hard to understand why! Thanks to the friendly atmosphere and being just 7 km out from the CBD, Bondi Beach is home to a wide mix of residents, including families, retirees, young singles, middle aged professionals, expats and even some of Sydney’s A-List have settled down in this Eastern Suburb.

A typical day at the famous Bondi Beach will see surfers vying for the perfect wave, fitness junkies pounding the pavement, sunbakers, swimmers and families all set up along the wide stretch of sand, and if they’re lucky, tourists snapping selfies with iconic Bondi Lifeguards.

At the peak of summer, Bondi Beach can quite easily see tens of thousands of people visit in a day. One of the most popular features of Bondi Beach is the renowned Coastal Walk, featuring spectacular views and depositing walkers out at either Bronte or Coogee, two equally beautiful neighbouring beaches.

Families with young children will love Hunter Park, Dickson Reserve and Thomas Hogan Reserve, all featuring playground equipment. Dickson Reserve is also home to a basketball court for those wanting to engage in a friendly game.

Bondi Beach is bordered by The Promenade, whose walls display beautiful works of art throughout the year. At the southern end of the beach are the Bondi Icebergs Baths, where locals can enjoy swimming laps at the picturesque ocean pool. Perched up higher on the rugged shoreline is the famous Bondi Icebergs Club, an exclusive venue to enjoy a meal by the water. At the other end of the beach is Ben Buckler Point, undisputedly providing the best views of the entire beach.

Away from the sand and surf are an array of delightful and delicious cafes, restaurants and bars for beach-goers to enjoy. Lining Campbell Parade is a selection of some of the best places, however, these spots often get crowded fast due to tourists. Step into one of the back streets and you’ll find hidden delights that locals love to keep secret. For a relaxed meal or quick bite to eat, the likes of Gustos, Lox Stock & Barrel, Sonoma Bakery Cafe, Gertrude & Alice, Birichina Cafe, The Nine, Bills, Fishbowl Sashimi Bar, Saigon Lane, La Piadina Bondi and of course Gelato Messina are all favourites. When it comes to restaurants, you can’t go past Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta, China Diner, Mamasan, Drake Eatery and Bondi’s Best.

A number of boutique shops are featured along Gould Street, including Tuchuzy, Camilla, Saturdays NYC, Jones & Co and Playa by Lucy Folk, with more and more popping up each day. For a more serious shopping spree, you can’t go past Bondi Junction Westfield, home to all your retail needs and literally just a few minutes away.
