What You’ll Love

Incredible views, a beautiful beach, plenty of parklands and a thriving dining precinct are just some of the many perks living in this suburb! Located 8 km out from Sydney CBD, locals are a mix of young working professionals and families, all of whom enjoy the beautiful beachside lifestyle of living in this suburb.

Of course, the main feature of this Eastern Suburb is the gorgeous Clovelly Beach, nestled in amongst two rugged headlands. Clovelly Beach features strips of golden sand and a wonderful swimming area, with promenades and concrete platforms providing easy access into what looks more like a large ocean pool than a beach.

The beach is a favourite destination for all, with families, sunbathers, swimmers and snorkelers all congregating on its shores. It’s also home to the historic Surf Life Saving Club which was one of the first to be built in the world and has become a huge part of the local culture and heritage. For those brave enough, you can join the Clovelly Eskimos in the winter months as they dive into the chilly waters for a swim.

Locals enjoy incredible views from pretty much anywhere, but Bundrock and Burrows Park provide possibly the best view up and down the coastline. Both are popular destinations, not just for the view but also the ample green space. Many residents come here to enjoy a casual picnic with friends or family, to partake in fitness activities or even to try and spot dolphins and whales during migration season.

Those who like to be active can easily join the Coastal Walk which starts in Bondi and winds its way down to Maroubra, offering spectacular views and a quick workout. Families will enjoy the variety of local parks and playgrounds, including Varna Park, Bundock Park Playground and Burnie Park Playground.

Up the hill from the beach is Clovelly Road, quite possibly the most popular destination for foodies, offering a delectable array of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Favourite spots for a quick bite to eat include Pizzavelly, Out Of The Blue Take-Away, Clovelly Beach Pizza, Sweet Kiss, Tophat Coffee Merchants, Clodeli Fine Foods, Seasalt Cafe, Burnie’s At Clovelly and Clovelly Bakery. For a more sophisticated night out, local restaurants include Clovelly Social House and Darley St Bistro, which can easily be backed up with a drink at the Clovelly Hotel.

Clovelly Real Estate

Throughout the suburb you’ll see family homes of all shapes and sizes, many of which capitalise on the beautiful ocean views, with Ocean, Battery and Boundary Streets commanding the best of the best. Further up the hill along Fern Street and Bishops Avenue, family homes are nestled in amongst low lying apartment blocks, while Melrose Parade and Walker Street are lined with apartments sporting equally amazing views.

The idyllic lifestyle offered in Clovelly sees many families hang onto their properties for long periods of time. The median price to purchase a 3 bedroom house is $3,115,000, whilst a 2 bedroom apartment will set you back $1,345,000. If you’re looking to rent, a 3 bedroom house costs approximately $1,250 per week and a 2 bedroom apartment $705 per week.

Transport

Locals have regular access to bus routes that transport them to and from the CBD as well as back and forth amongst the other beaches. Those looking to travel outside the Eastern Suburbs can easily find their way to nearby Bondi Junction where the train interchange will deposit them almost anywhere they are looking to go, including the Airport.
